Meet The Founders

Kurt Kruep

Kurt started buying junk cars in 2011 with nothing but a truck, chain, and a dream. He had the plan to start a business where he could not only help himself but where he can help others. Kurt wanted to help the community by creating job opportunities. He also wanted to offer solutions for the average Joe with a junk car he doesn’t know what to do with. Furthermore, he tried to make rare vehicle parts readily available. Emerald is less of a business and more of an entity that brings joy and lifts a smile on every single soul we serve.

He never thought his dream would bring him this far, but his goal of helping others was beginning.

Jordan Kruep

Jordan has been a car lover and enthusiast since he was young. At an early age, he learned that kicking tires can be one way to diagnose problems in the vehicle’s suspension system. This is one of those events that sparked his interest in cars. It later motivated him to learn several other things about vehicles. His love and passion for cars later motivated him to pursue a career in the automotive industry. From a young age, he dreamed of technical and engineering courses. He thus enrolled to study electronic engineering at George Washington University.

While his father wanted him to be a doctor, Jordan’s dream was to take apart and fix engineered parts. At a very young age, he enjoyed looking under the cars’ hoods and other car parts. He has always been curious about the purpose of each car part. At Emerald, Jordan has led the collection of hundreds of junk cars in Kansas City Missouri.

He never thought his dream would bring him this far, but his goal of helping others was beginning.

Our Early Beginnings

At first, Emerald Planet was a repair and parts business launched as a hobby by Kurt Kruep in the early 90s. Kurt started working with old cars earlier before teaming up with Jordan Kruep in 1995. Their diversion was promising and had the markings of a potential business. This motivated them to get the property and officially start the company.

The business has since grown to a collection of over 1,000 junk vehicles sitting on the property. They later added a few structures to the property to offer service space and storage offices. The business has accumulated years of experience buying grounded vehicles in all conditions. These include damaged cars, Salvage cars, and late models that are no longer in service. You can talk to us about any vehicle model, including cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs.

The junkyard has several cars built between the 1930s and the 1980s. Yet, the majority of the vehicles on the ground are those from the 1950s and 1960s. This makes our junkyard a real ghost town of classic cars. We have a vast collection of vehicles from all manufacturers like Ford, Chrysler, and GM.

Why We Started This Business

Emerald was born out of childhood ambitions in the automobile industry. These ambitions led to the launch of a company to be a one-stop point for cash for car services in Kansas City. They ventured into creating a wide collection of Classic Cars, Vintage Cars, Antique Cars, and trucks. From this collection, they would offer rare parts for repair, restoration, and recycling.

The company also services clients seeking various other services in the automotive industry. These include engine spare parts and repairs, complete rebuilding, paint, mechanical, and upholstery.

What We Offer
